Attended a couple of excellent sessions today. The first was on
Evolution of the Rocky Mountains. The discussion of the Larimide orogeny
was informative. The second session I enjoyed was on petrology and
orogenic systems. Use of garnet-spinel-corundum ternary diagrams brought
back fond memories of Igneous Metamorphic Petrology.
